Lee has battled back for a dislocated knee cap during the recent off season. He's now back to full speed and reports no ill effects. Those that have seen him in person report that Lee has very good quickness for a man his size.
Lee was among the 100s of recruits in Tuscaloosa for last week's Oklahoma game. He has gained 20+ pounds since Bama's coaches saw him in their summer mini-camp. "They asked me to send them video from my senior year," Lee told BamaMag.com this week.
"The Tide coaches told me they felt like I will develop physically into an offensive tackle," Lee said.
A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Lee's uncle (Pete Williams, football) and mother (Mimi Lee, basketball) both played sports for the Rebels. He's interested in Ole Miss, but likes Alabama as well.
"I'm definitely not tied into Ole Miss," Lee said. "If Alabama offered, it would be very interesting."
Lee was selected All Area by the Oxford Eagle newspaper and by the local television station. He also was also chosen for the all-state team. As a blocker he has a knack for getting his body between his man and the ball carrier. Lee is an aggressive player, who uses his physical strength well.
He ran a 5.5 40-yard dash at this summer's NIKE Camp, but that was soon after he had injured his knee cap. Lee reports his best 40 time at 5.20.
Showing solid athleticism, Lee has a 21-inch vertical jump. He bench presses 330 pounds.
Lee carries a 2.2 GPA in the classroom at Oxford High School and scored 15 on his first attempt at the ACT.
He reports scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Alabama, Auburn and West Virginia round out his top five.
RECRUITING NOTE: The Tide is expected to sign up to four offensive linemen in this year's class. At 6-6, 270, Lee is the size preferred by Bama's O-Line Coach Bobby Connelly, who prefers to add weight to incoming freshmen rather than take it off. Lee will be watched closely this season. His progress on the field and in the classroom will be key.
