ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (2-4, 1-2 SEC)
Sophomore Spencer Pennington made his first career start for the Crimson Tide, subbing for the injured Brodie Croyle ... Pennington finished the game by completing nine of 20 passes for 109 yards with one TD and one interception, all career highs ... Redshirt frosh QB Brandon Avalos saw his first career action, replacing the injured Pennington with 6:49 left in the third quarter.
ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS (4-0, 1-0 SEC)
All five of Arkansas' overtime games in its history have been on the road ... Cedric Cobbs' 198 rushing yards against Alabama were the most against the Tide since 1998 (James Johnson, Miss. State) ... Arkansas is 4-0 for the first time since 1998, when it was the Western Division Co-Champion and played in the Florida Citrus Bowl ... Cobbs leads the SEC in rushing and is third in the nation (140.5) ... The Razorbacks have rushed for more than 200 yards in 23 of Houston Nutt's 66 games at Arkansas (34.8 percent) ... Arkansas is 20-3 in those games ... Arkansas has lost only five turnovers in four games this season.
AUBURN TIGERS (3-2, 2-0 SEC)
Auburn has started 2-0 in SEC play for the fourth straight year ... Auburn has now won four straight games over top 10 teams when entering the game unranked ... Auburn is 5-2 against teams in the top 10 since 2001 ... Auburn went over 250 yards rushing in consecutive games for the first time since 1995 (Kentucky-285, Mississippi State-332). ... Auburn did not have an interception for the third straight game. The Tigers have thrown 70 straight passes without being picked off ... Auburn accumulated more than 400 total yards in back-to-back conference games for the first time since 2000 (Ole Miss-421, LSU-421).
FLORIDA GATORS (3-3, 1-2 SEC)
Florida's schedule over the next few weeks marks one of the toughest stretches in school history. UF will play three connective ranked opponents on the road for only the second time in the history of the program. In 1997 UF faced No. 14 LSU and lost, 28-21, and then defeated No. 6 Auburn, 14-10, the following week before losing to No. 6 Georgia, 37-17, in Jacksonville after a bye week. UF faces No. 6 LSU, No. 8 Arkansas and No. 11 Georgia in consecutive weeks this year. UF has already faced two ranked opponents this year The school record for most ranked teams played in the regular season is six by the 1987 and 1991 teams.
GEORGIA BULLDOGS (4-1, 2-1 SEC)
Senior split end Michael Johnson changed his jersey number from No. 25 to No. 4 to honor strong safety Kentrell Curry, who will miss the rest of his senior season because of a leg injury ... Georgia scored 37 first half points, more than any team has scored in a half against Alabama since it began Southeastern Conference play in 1933 ... QB David Greene is 25-6 as Georgia's starting QB ... He tied a season-high with 21 completions on 38 attempts for 252 yards with a TD and 2 INTs ... PK Billy Bennett hid three field goals and scored 13 points against Alabama ... He has moved to second on UGA's career scoring list with 325 points.
KENTUCKY WILDCATS (2-3, 0-2 SEC)
QB Jared Lorenzen's interception in the third quarter vs. Florida broke a string of 75 consecutive passes without interception dating back to the Murray State game ... Lorenzen had 215 yards total offense and now has 9,305 in his career, moving past Florida's Shane Matthews (9,241 yards) for fourth place on the SEC career total offense list ... He threw for 179 yards and now has 9,061 passing yards in his career, becoming the seventh player in SEC history to reach 9,000 passing yards ... Arliss Beach had three rushing TDs, one in each of the first three quarters and has scored a TD in four straight quarters (4th/Indiana).
LSU TIGERS (5-0, 2-0 SEC)
The Tigers are 5-0 for the first time since 1973 when LSU started 9-0 ... The Tigers are also 2-0 in the SEC for the second straight season, marking the first time LSU has been 2-0 for back-to-back seasons since 1995-96 ... WR Michael Clayton has caught a pass in 31 straight games (3 for 31 yards vs. Miss. State) ... FS Travis Daniels returned an interception 48 yards for a TD against Miss. State, marking the second INT return for a score this season for LSU (Jack Hunt, 31 yards vs. UL-Monroe) ... LSU is sixth in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll, it's highest national ranking since 1998 (#6).
OLE MISS REBELS (3-2, 2-0 SEC)
Ole Miss is off to its second straight 2-0 start in the SEC and just the third since 1970 ... Ole Miss' win over Florida was the first over a ranked team since upsetting the No. 6-ranked Gators 17-14 last year in Oxford ... It is the Rebels' first road win over a ranked team since a 36-21 win over a No. 8 LSU in 1997 ... Ole Miss gained 485 yards of total offense to go over the 400-yard mark in total offense for the fourth straight game ... The Rebels' 223 yards rushing marks the second time this season the Rebels have gained over 200 yards rushing (225 vs. ULM) ... The UF game marked just fourth time in 29 career starts that Eli Manning did not throw at least one TD pass.
MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS (1-4, 1-1 SEC)
State's win over Vanderbilt broke a nine-game losing streak for the Bulldogs ... WR Justin Jenkins is now seventh all-time at MSU in career receiving yards (1,670), second in career TD receptions (15) and tied for fifth in career receptions (116) ... Jenkins has 37 catches for 574 yards and seven TD catches this season ... QB Kevin Fant's 18 completions moved him into second place on MSU's career list with 375 ... TB Jerious Norwood had career highs of 22 carries for 113 yards against the Commodores ... MSU coach Jackie Sherrill is now tied for 30th in Division I-A all-time wins with 179.
SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS (3-2, 0-2 SEC)
Sophomore DT Moe Thompson played offense during USC's second drive as an H-Back ... It was Thompson's first action on offense while at USC ... Freshman TB Demetris Summers rushed for 158 yards against Tennessee, marking his second straight 100+ rushing yardage game (161 vs. UAB) ... He becomes the first USC freshman to rush for 100 or more yards in consecutive games since 1982 (Thomas Dendy) ... South Carolina competed in its first-ever overtime game ... Opposing offenses have been stopped to 3-and-out on 26 of 64 drives this season, 40.6 percent, second in the SEC (42.0, Arkansas).
TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS (4-1, 2-1 SEC)
The loss at Auburn was QB Casey Clausen's first as a starter on the road (11-1) after winning 11 straight dating back to the 2000 campaign ... The senior completed 30-of-46 passes for 355 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT ... His 46 attempts is a career-high (previous: 44 vs. Florida, 2002) and 30 completions equals career-best (30 vs. Florida, 2002) ... The Auburn loss ended UT's six-game SEC winning streak dating back to last season and the Vols' four-game streak over AU ... WR Chris Hannon recorded career-highs in receptions (5) and yards (95) and WR Tony Brown had a career-best 78 receiving yards (5 catches).
VANDERBILT COMMODORES (1-5, 0-3 SEC)
Against Miss. State, QB Jay Cutler completed 22-of-35 attempts for 295 yards and 2 TDs, setting career bests for completions and passing yards ... In Vandy's career record books, Cutler is eighth with 2,718 passing yards and 10th with 3,156 total offensive yards ... Brandon Smith caught a career-high nine passes for 129 yards, also a career best ... Nine different Vandy receivers caught passes against State ... Soph. Ralph McKenzie returned to the starting lineup at DT after playing sparingly following an injury in the second game of the season ... McKenzie was credited with a sack (-7 yards) against State.
