From a news standpoint, we have had a busy "holiday season" insofar as football recruiting successes of the Mike Shula Alabama football staff and the surprising performance of Coach Mark Gottfried's hustling Crimson Tide basketball team.
And now the staff of ‘BAMA Magazine and BamaMag.com has turned its attention from the hard work of the past months. Jay Lisby, who is the heart of BamaMag.com; recruiting experts Freddie Kirby, Andrew Bone, and Scott Kennedy; chief photographer Barry Fikes; and yours truly, Kirk McNair, along with the many "behind the scenes" people who keep us together are taking a little time off. Not a lot. Like that jolly old man, we're checking things.
But for the next few days we'll be with family and friends sharing the joy of this season, the one the song tells us is "The most wonderful time of the year." It's a dead period in recruiting, and we're not trying to recussitate it forthe next few days. We're not calling coaches or players, who we hope are also celebrating something besides touchdowns.
I think this is a good time to reflect on that which unites us, including our love of Alabama athletics and our admiration of those who toil -- athletes, coaches, staff -- in pursuit of Crimson Tide excellence. We have bumps in the Bama road, but all-in-all this camp is a very good one.
Best wishes for this season and our hopes for a Happy New Year. And Roll Tide Roll
