Coming Down to the Wire

Lorenzo Washington has maintained two favorite schools. He is fresh off of his visit to Georgia, and he has set a time and place for his announcement between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs.

Lorenzo Washington, 6'5', 275, DT, from Grayson HS in Loganville, GA, is standing firm with his announcement. Washington said, "I'm going to decide next Wednesday on Countdown to Signing Day. I'm giving myself a good week to think about it and decide what is best for me."

Washington took his official visit to Georgia this past weekend and said, "It went really good. Just as good as about any visit can go."

Washington's activities included hanging with David Pollack for the weekend and he said, "I played HALO on XBOX and we went to downtown Athens. It was a really good time. Pollack, he's a really down-to-earth guy. He is very straight-forward. He talked to me about Alabama and Georgia and never bad-mouthed anyone."

Washington has been steady with Alabama and Georgia for most of the recruiting season. Time is winding down. Washington is really sold on both programs. He added, "They both have the greatest coaching staffs in America right now and I love them both."

Maybe the difference will come down to position coaches. Washington did not hesitate in his reply. "As far as position coaches, Coach Randolph from Alabama is my favorite. I feel like I am already playing for him. He called earlier, and we just have a great bond with each another. He is really close with all the players, and I really like that. I know that he was chaperoning for one of the player's parties one night and he stayed until 3 in the morning. He is just like one of the guys," Washington replied.

Washington relates to both programs overall, and that is the reason for his dilemma. "At Alabama, I will have a great opportunity for early playing time. Alabama is starting to rebuild their football program, and they are on the rise. Georgia's football program has been rebuilt. They are starting on a dynasty. I think Georgia will win the SEC Championship next year and have a good shot at a National Championship," Washington said.

Visits are over for Washington and now the decision is the only thing looming. Washington added, "That's it for me. A week to think about each school and how they both started recruiting me back in May. I will think about every aspect and what they both have to offer me."
