Evan Cardwell, 6'4", 285, OG/DT, from Brooks HS, will be one of the top lineman recruits for the class of 2005.
Cardwell had a big junior year recording 78 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 4
sacks and was 4A All-State.
The SEC schools have definitely noticed Cardwell and he is currently receiving
letters from Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. Cardwell
said, "My favorites are Alabama, LSU, Florida and Arkansas. My number one
would be Alabama, then LSU, Florida and Arkansas."
Growing up in Alabama Cardwell was quick to admit, "I have been an Alabama
fan and have always wanted to play there. I love the campus and I have a lot of
friends who go there."
Size is one of Cardwell's assets, and his strength is definitely a plus. He
added, "I'm a lot quicker than most guys I play against. I'm also a lot
stronger than most guys I play against."
Off-season conditioning is important to all athletes and Cardwell recognizes
what he wants to focus on before his senior season begins. He said, "I can
always work on my speed and try to get faster. I need to work on my footwork and
Cardwell attended the Alabama/Southern Miss game.
