Another Top TE in Alabama

The State of Alabama is loaded with excellent Tight End prospects for the Class of 2005. Careg Bonner is another player to keep an eye on.

Careg Bonner, 6' 3", 230, 4.7, WR, from Huntsville HS, is another top tight end prospect from the state of Alabama this year. He plays wide receiver in high school, but with his size, he is almost definitely slated for the tight end position in college.

His action as a sophomore garnered 41 receptions/653 yards/9 touchdowns. His junior stats are also impressive with 59 receptions/929 yards/13 touchdowns.

As a junior he was honored as All-City, All-Metro, All-Region, and All-State Honorable Mention.

Bonner is receiving interest from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Florida, Tulane, and Colorado.

Bonner does not have an early favorite as he stated, "Right now, I'm undecided."

Bonner attended the Alabama/Oklahoma game and the Auburn homecoming game. "It was really cool. I had never done anything like that before. Being down on the field before the game was a lot of fun," replied Bonner.

Being a tall wide receiver has advantages as Bonner shared, "My height is one of my strengths. I am able to leap over corners to get the ball because most of them are a lot smaller than me."

During the off-season Bonner is focusing on improving his game. "I need to work on my downfield blocking. I also need to get more aggressive at going after the ball instead of letting it just come to me," Bonner added.
