1st Two Offers for Alabama Lineman

Evan Cardwell is an offensive line prospect from Brooks High School that is garnering a lot of attention this spring. He has picked up his first two offers and has an early favorite.

"I have received offers from Alabama and Notre Dame," Evan Cardwell said.

"I received the offer from Alabama at Alabama's A-Day game. Coach Ball and Coach Connelly talked to me and told me they had a scholarship for me," Cardwell added.

"I received the offer from Notre Dame shortly after that. Coach Willingham wrote me a letter saying they had a scholarship for me," said Cardwell.

With two offers in hand, Cardwell is naming a leader. "I would have to say Alabama is my leader. I have been an Alabama fan my whole life and people from here always go to Alabama," admitted Cardwell.

Cardwell made a trip to Auburn's campus this spring and said, "I went to one of Auburn's practices. I liked it a lot. It was a good experience for me. I talked with Coach Dunn a good bit."

Baton Rouge was on Cardwell's road trip and he replied, " I was able to go down to LSU's Junior Day and I really loved the campus. They really impressed me. That is why they are also high on my list."

Besides Alabama and LSU, Cardwell is still open to a few other schools. "I am also considering Auburn, Notre Dame and Georgia, " Cardwell said.

"Probably not," Cardwell replied when asked about an early commitment. "The way things are going right now, I really want to wait and see what is best for me. I will probably go on all my official visits before I make a decision. I want to find a place where I feel comfortable for the next four or five years and where I feel at home."

Cardwell is deciding on his summer camp schedule and said, "There is nothing concrete right now except for Alabama. I will have to sit down and see. I would like to go to LSU."

Spring practice begins today for Brooks High School, and it is going to be different. "Our head football coach has decided to take the defensive coordinator job at Florence. We are not sure who our new football coach is going to be," Cardwell replied.
