Keith Brown, who is one of three incoming receivers from the state of Florida, was expected to arrive in Tuscaloosa some time next week along with D.J. Hall and Will Oakley and enroll on July 12, the registration day for the second summer term at Alabama.
Brown won regards from several current squad members, who said he fared well in one-on-one drills as well as in seven-on-seven team led pass skel activities. In only his first day of working out with the team, Brown fared well against the Tide's first-string defensive backs.
Brown said the jump to playing with college athletes has been intense. "It's fast and powerful," he said. "I have concentrated more. Concentration is important in making the level jump and it helped me improve a lot."
Asked if early playing time was his goal Brown said: "Definitely. That's why I came here. It's a lot harder work that's ahead of me. I need to concentrate on the learning the plays, running routes and reading coverages."
Brown was a class 4A all-state selection who finished his senior season with 56 catches for 1,310 yards and 15 touchdowns. Brown also had five rushing TDs, one punt and one kickoff return for TD. He caught five passes (one TD) in the CaliFlorida Bowl, earning MVP honors in the game.
