Tide Commitment Ready for Season

Evan Cardwell was Alabama's first commitment for the class of 2005. Cardwell is ready to begin his senior season.

"We are getting ready to begin our season. The team is looking pretty good. Everybody is excited. We plan on going all the way. Everyone says that. I think we have the team this year that has a really good shot. We have a lot of talent this year," said Evan Cardwell.

Cardwell is excited about the new commitments and is planning to assist Alabama in recruiting.

"I have been keeping up to date with all the new commitments. I heard we got the Barnes guy from California. That is pretty big. The coaches have asked me to come to games and talk to several prospects."

"I have not been to any practices. I have been busy with football. I need to call Coach Shula and see when is a good time for me to come down," said Cardwell.

When asked about his summer, Cardwell replied, "I have stayed healthy. I have stayed about the same weight. I am around 290. I have been maintaining my strength pretty good."

Teammate, quarterback Tim Wheeler, is also being recruited by several schools.

"Tim (Wheeler) has been doing pretty good. We have been focusing on this coming season and not trying to get all caught up in the whole recruiting stuff. He is going to have a good year and has been doing very good this summer."

Brooks will play Sheffield @ Brooks for a jamboree game Thursday, August 19th.

Brooks will travel to Florence for their first game of the season. Florence will feature running back, Daniel Jackson.
