South Hot 100 DB Stuck on Two

Jerraud Powers is one of the top defensive backs in the southeast. The South Hot 100 defensive back is still high on two.

"Yes, it's still between Alabama and Auburn. Neither one of the schools is ahead of the other right now," said Jerraud Powers.

Powers teammate, Sam Burnthall, recently made a commitment to sign with the University of Alabama. Powers would like to play with his best friend in college.

"We really don't even talk about it that much. We have talked about it a little bit. It would be great to play with Sam (Burnthall). If we don't, nothing will change between us. We will always be good friends."

Alabama and Auburn will have to wait until the season begins to receive a visit from Powers.

"I haven't been to any practices or visits. I was planning to go to some, but I doubt I will. I plan to go to the Auburn-LSU game, the Alabama-Utah State game, and the Auburn-Georgia game. I will try to attend a few more Alabama games. I might go to a few other schools," said Powers.

With three offers and two heavy favorites, Powers is also considering a few other schools.

"I still only have offers from Alabama, Auburn, and Louisville. Besides Alabama and Auburn, I am considering Louisville, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State."

Unlike Burnthall, Powers still plans to wait on his decision.

"I probably will still wait until the middle of the season or after the season."

Powers is excited to begin his senior year.

"We are looking alright. We have a lot of growing up to do. Expectations are always very high here at Decatur. I hope we have a good season," Powers said.

Decatur will play Minor at Hewitt-Trussville for a fall jamboree game. Decatur will host Athens for the first game of the season.
