Alabama OL Has Two Offers and a Top 5

Johnny Carpenter is a 6-3, 290 pound offensive lineman from Citronelle High School that has received two offers and is receiving heavy interest from several schools. He names his Top 5.

"I have offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss. Alabama, Auburn, Vanderbilt, and UAB are all sending me letters just about everyday," said Johnny Carpenter. "I really like Southern Miss. The coaches are very friendly and they have a nice campus. I talked to Coach Kitchens at Mississippi State and I really like him. The campus is beautiful at Mississippi State," added Carpenter.

Five schools are strongly being considered.

"If I had to narrow a list, I would say Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. I do not have a favorite."

"I grew up an Alabama fan. If I received an offer, I would still have to think about it. I really love Alabama, but in my eyes right now, all the schools are equal," said Carpenter.

This summer, Carpenter attended several camps.

"I went to Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, and Vanderbilt."

This weekend, Carpenter will travel to Starkville.

"I am going to the Mississippi State/Tulane game. Next week, I am going to Alabama/Ole Miss game. The week after, I am going to Southern Miss/California game. I know I will probably go to a game every weekend, but those are the first three games I know I am going to," said Carpenter.

Carpenter will look at a few things before making his decision.

"I want to play at a big school. I want to go to a school that has good tradition and one with a good looking campus. I am not sure when I will make a decision. I guess I am waiting to see who else offers me. If I had to choose today since Alabama has not offered, I would say Southern Miss."

C.J. Herring is another top offensive lineman from Citronelle receiving heavy interest from several schools.

"Me and C.J. grew up together. We have been playing together since we were four years old. I hope we can play together, but you can't always get what you want. It will not be a big deal if we can't play together," said Carpenter.

This Friday, Citronelle will host S. Pauls.
