Tallahassee Running Back Has Top 5

Roy Upchurch of Amos P. Godby High School, in Tallahassee, Florida, is having a great year. Upchurch is turning heads each week, and is very close to breaking a few state records.

"The season has been excellent. I am having a lot of fun out there this year. I don't know how many carries I have, but I have rushed for 1,345 yards in five games. I am trying really hard to break some records. I have already broken the record for most points scored in a game already. I need 400 more yards rushing, to break the most yards rushing in a season. I have scored 15 touchdowns this year. We are 3-2 this season. We play at East Gadsden next week. They are 0-5, but I never underestimate any team," said Roy Upchurch.

This fall, Upchurch has attended one game.

"I went to the Florida State/Clemson game. It was a decent game. I was able to speak with Coach Bowden and several other coaches. They were all real nice and pretty cool. I feel like I could fit into their offense."

The Godby star running back is looking to make a trip out-of-state.

"I want to go to an Alabama or Auburn game. I am not sure which one I will go to yet."

Upchurch has not set up any official visits, but there are five schools he will most likely visit.

"I have not set up any official visits yet. At the moment, I can't really say which schools I will visit. I like Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, and North Carolina. I don't have a favorite out of those schools," said Upchurch.

There are a couple of things Upchurch likes about each school.

Florida: "I like Florida because they are the Gators. I really like the way they run their offense and I like the way the play call."

Florida State: "I really like their play calling. They have one of the best defenses in the country and they always have a great running back."

Alabama: "Alabama gives me a really good chance to play early. I have been talking to Coach Connelly and he told me they really want to sign a running back."

Auburn: "I really don't know what happened to them this year. They have become really good. They run the ball a lot and their run ratio is more than their pass, so I like that."

North Carolina: "They mix it up and one of my teammates went there to play and he was able to play early."

Several coaches are staying in close contact with this star running back and Upchurch has made a few calls on his own.

"I talk to Coach Connelly (Alabama), Coach Bowden (Florida State), Coach Markuson (Arkansas), and Coach Gran (Auburn). I have called Coach Bowden, Coach Connelly, and Coach Gran."

A decision will not be made for a while, as Upchurch looks for two main things before making his decision.

"A decision will not be made anytime soon. I will make my decision after I take all of my official visits. I am looking at the graduation ratio and early playing time," said Upchurch.
