Maryland Commitment to Visit Tide

Chris Rogers of Evangel Christian in Lakeland is one of the top defensive backs in Florida. Over the summer, Rogers made an early commitment to Maryland, but now has opened his recruitment and has scheduled his first official visit.

"I talked to Coach Ball (Alabama) last week, and he said that I needed to go ahead and schedule my official visit. I looked at my schedule and I scheduled my visit for January 7-9," said Chris Rogers.

Coach Ball has been staying in close contact with Rogers.

"I talk to Coach Ball every week. He is calling me. I have not called him. He is really cool and I like him a lot."

Rogers is looking at a few other schools to visit as well.

"I think I am going to visit South Carolina. Oregon has been calling my coach and they want me to come for visit. They have not offered. It's a possibility that I will visit one of those schools. I am going to take my visit to Maryland on December 10-12. I might visit Louisville. When they beat the Hurricanes, I will visit them," said Rogers.

Evangel Christian is looking to make a state championship run. This week, they will face a tough task.

"We play Fort Meade this week at Home. They are the number one ranked team in the state. We beat Lake Placid last week 35-6. I had eight tackles. They kept sending guys out to chop block me and I had never seen them coming out to chop block a safety. For the season, I have 68 tackles, three forced fumbles, and one interception."
