Top TE Takes in Alabama Game

Gabe McKenzie, 6-3, 220, of Davidson High School in Mobile, is one of the top tight end/defensive end prospects in the country. McKenzie was in Tuscaloosa to attend the Alabama/Mississippi State game and the Tide made a strong impression.

Gabe McKenzie took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa as the Tide spoiled Sylvester Croom's homecoming 30-14.

"It was a really good experience for me. I have been wanting to know more about Alabama and the coaching staff. I was able to do that this weekend," said McKenzie.

During his visit, McKenzie spoke with several coaches and players.

"I was able to speak with Coach Shula, Coach Wyatt, and the wide receivers coach (Coach Harbison). They were all real nice. Alabama has a good coaching staff. Coach Wyatt is my recruiting coach. He is a really nice guy. I got to go into the locker room after the game. I talked to the defensive ends, the quarterback, and Ray Hudson."

After this weekend, the Tide may have a great shot at landing the blue chip tight end.

"Alabama has really nice facilities, nice coaches, and nice players. They have a really good program there now. I am going to take an official visit (to Alabama) and I will attend the Alabama/Auburn game," said McKenzie.

"I have not set up any official visits. I know I am going to visit Auburn, Miami, and Alabama. I don't know if I will visit LSU. Those are really the main three for me. Auburn is still my favorite."

Friday night, Davidson (8-2) will host Enterprise (7-3) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the first round of the playoffs.
