Discusses Alabama Visit

Jeff Cottam is a 6-7, 255 pound tight end for Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee. Cottam is one of the top tight end prospects in the country that also has the ability to play offensive line. Last weekend, he took his first official visit to Alabama. This weekend, Cottam will head to Tennessee for his next official visit.

Jeff Cottam enjoyed his first trip to Tuscaloosa.

"I took my official visit to Alabama last week. It was really good. I liked it a lot. I was able to tour the campus, talk with the coaches, meet with the academic director and attend the game. I really liked the campus a lot. It was the first Alabama game I have ever been too. I was really impressed with the crowd. It was better than I expected," said Cottam.

Cottam was able to spend time with quarterback, Brodie Croyle, and had the opportunity to meet a few Crimson Tide players.

"Brodie Croyle was my player host. He is a real cool guy. We had a lot in common. After the game, I talked to most of the tight ends and I talked to Wesley Britt. He is a pretty huge guy."

The Alabama coaching staff made a strong impression on the star tight end.

"I talked to all of them (coaches). Coach Sparky Woods is my recruiting coach. He is a good guy and straight forward. I think Coach Shula is going to be good. He has the program heading in the right direction," said Cottam.

"I don't really have anything to compare my visit to, since it was my first visit. I feel like I would fit in really good there. They have a bunch of good guys that seem really close with each other," Cottam added.

With Tennessee up next and Ole Miss to follow, Cottam knows what he is looking for during his visits.

"I am going to Tennessee this weekend and then to Ole Miss on December 10-12. Those are the only visits I have set up. I might take a visit to Notre Dame and possibly Auburn. I will be checking out the atmosphere, the school, and mainly playing time. I think the deciding factor for me is wherever I feel the most comfortable. I know it is going to be a hard decision," said Cottam.

"I would like to have a decision made before Christmas. If I don't feel comfortable, I will hold off for a while."

Germantown is still in the play-offs. This week, a tough opponent is waiting.

"We are in the quarterfinals. We beat Collierville 21-14. We play at Houston this Friday. It will be a tough game. They beat us 15-14, during the regular season," said Cottam.
