Alabama's Next Commitment?

Michael Ricks has emerged as one of the top players in the state of Alabama. He is having a huge senior year for R.A. Hubbard (1A). Several schools have taken notice of this star defensive back and wide receiver, and he has a good list of offers to prove it.

"It is a real big deal to me. Most of the time the lower classification schools don't get looked at by D-I schools. It is a really good experience for me and my teammates. I feel like I can bring my competitiveness and aggression to the next level," said Michael Ricks.

"I have received offers from Memphis, MTSU, Troy, Alabama, and Mississippi State. Tennessee, Auburn, and Kentucky are schools recruiting me hard, but have not offered. Alabama was the first school to offer me. They offered after my first game. I was pretty surprised. I didn't think they would offer me that early," Ricks added.

Ricks likes several things about the Tide as Alabama leads for his signature.

"I would say I am leaning towards Alabama. I really like their defense. They were up and coming all year long. They should do very well after this year. I grew up an Alabama fan. The campus is real big and I really like the atmosphere," said Ricks.

One coach has made a strong impression with Ricks.

"Coach Ball (Alabama) has been recruiting me. He is a real good coach. I really like that he socializes with the players."

Ricks is considering several schools for visits.

"I have set up one visit to Memphis on December 16. I plan to visit Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Troy, and Middle Tennessee State. I am planning to make my decision when my season ends, which I hope is after the state championship game. I don't know if I will take any visits once I make a commitment," said Ricks.

This week, R.A. Hubbard (13-0) is heading into the semi-finals. Ricks has been making plays, all year long, to help lead his team deep into the playoffs.

"We play at Wadley (13-0) this week in the semi-finals. They have a really good receiver, but I am going to shut him down. On offense for the season, I have 1,000 yards rushing and 750 yards receiving. On defense, I have ten interceptions and 75 tackles. Last year, I was All-State."
