Pennsylvania Running Back Talks Tide

Mikell Simpson, of Harrisburg High School, Pennsylvania, and a four star running back, remains interested in the Tide. In the last five days, Alabama has landed (2) three star running backs, Ali Sharrief and Glen Coffee. The four star running back plans to wait on his decision.

When Mikell Simpson was asked about the running back commitments to Alabama, Simpson replied, "Yes, I heard they got two running backs, this past week. It won't affect my decision at all, but the coaches might be thinking differently. Last time I talked with them, they told me they wanted to sign two running backs, but shoot for three. I have not talked to them this weekend. I will probably talk with them Monday or Tuesday," said Simpson.

If the Alabama coaches are wanting to sign two running backs, but "shoot for three", Simpson does not feel rushed to make a decision..

"I still won't be making my decision until after my fifth visit. I am going to set the visit up in January, but take the visit the last week of January. I am not sure which school I will visit yet. I am considering West Virginia, North Carolina, or USC."

Alabama is still at the top of Simpson's list.

"Alabama and Virginia are still my top two. I went to UCLA, last weekend, and had a good time, but Alabama has been the best visit by far. I am not saying they (Alabama) are my overall leader though. I am not going to be able to declare an overall leader until my last visit. I am going to evaluate all the schools," said Simpson.

Last week, Alabama Coach Sparky Woods made another visit with the four star running back.

"Coach Woods came by last Tuesday. The visit was very brief. He was in the area and he just stopped by to say hello."

Sunday night, Harrisburg High School had their annual football banquet. Despite missing half the season, Simpson did not walk away empty handed.

"The banquet was really nice. I won the award for the most explosive player, the Game-Changer. Our coach didn't give an MVP award, because he is all about the team as a whole and not just one individual."

This week, coaches from Virginia and UCLA are expected to make in-home visits with Simpson.
