Roy Upchurch is a top running back prospect from Godby High School in Tallahassee, Florida. This past season, he rushed for 2,543 yards with 27 touchdowns.
Godby's Head Coach, Coach Shelton Crews said, "He was selected as the
Offensive Player of the Year in the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper (37 schools).
He was also selected as the district MVP with the Florida Athletic Coaches
Association (20 schools). He is a great kid that has been fun to coach and watch
grow into a great player."
Upchurch excels on the football field, and with the holiday season upon us,
Upchurch is also involved with a special holiday project.
"He is currently involved in the 3rd Annual Roy Upchurch Christmas Drive,
supplying the elderly and less fortunate with Christmas. He has donation boxes
located around the city. He delivers gifts to these people based on what he gets
donated. This is done in late memory of his grandmother. He is carrying on what
she started. He used to help her with this community service project. Needless
to say, he is active off the field in the community."
Currently, Upchurch is being recruited by Alabama and a host of others. This
time of year, recruiting takes a back seat until after the holidays.
"He will make someone a very good player and representative of their
university. Roy has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Florida State, Arkansas,
and North Carolina. He is scheduled to visit these schools in January,"
