Fast Rising RB Will Visit Alabama

Mike Ford, 6-2, 205, running back from Sarasota High School, is one of the top running back prospects in Florida. Ford had a banner senior season. He was the leading rusher in the state of Florida (2,836) with thirty seven touchdowns, and was named Class 5A Player of the Year. This weekend, Ford has an official visit with Alabama.

"I am going to Alabama this weekend. I feel like Alabama will be a great place to visit. I don't mind playing outside the state of Florida, and Alabama is not far from home," said Mike Ford.

Ford does not know much about Alabama, but is looking forward to learning about the Tide.

"I have never been to Alabama. I have never been outside the state. I am hoping to learn a lot about Alabama, because I don't know much."

The star running back does know Alabama is looking for a couple of running backs. With two backs committed, the Tide is looking for a decision.

"Alabama gives me a huge opportunity to come in and play early. They are low on backs, and I know I could come in and play. Alabama is recruiting me really hard right now. They have given me a firm offer. Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Michigan State, and Florida are all equal until signing day."

Before his weekend visit, Coach Shula made a stop by Ford's house.

"Coach Shula and one of the assistant coaches came by here last night. The visit went really good. We just sat around and talked for a while."

Ford is looking at a few aspects before making his college decision.

"I am going to be looking at the campus size and the classroom sizes. I want to know that I would be able to have a tutor for academic help. As far as football, I want to know where I would stand, and what year all the other running backs will be. The deciding factor will be my official visits," said Ford.

Ford has visits set to South Carolina (1/14) and Auburn (1/21).
