High on Alabama and Auburn

Dontrell Miller, of Demopolis High School, is an excellent defensive back from the state Alabama for the class of 2006. Miller helped lead his team to the Class 4A state championship, and he is high on the Tide and the Tigers.

"It was very exciting playing in the state championship game. I was very happy to be a part of it. Hopefully, we will go back next year," said Dontrell Miller.

Miller traveled to Troy in December to play in the Junior All-Star game.

"It was pretty cool. It was great to be able to play against all the top players in the state. It was good to meet everyone, and learn a little bit of how college will be like."

A couple of schools have started showing interest in the Demopolis athlete.

"Southern Miss and Duke have been the only two schools to send me anything. I have not received any offers yet. I am interested in Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. My two favorites are Alabama and Auburn. They are both equal. I like the way Alabama runs their offense and defense. They had one of the top defenses in the nation this past year. They will be just as good next year. I like how the Auburn defense always surrounds the ball," said Miller.

Miller is a two way standout, and sees time as a wide receiver.

"I love playing wide receiver, but all the coaches feel like I will be a lot better on defense in college."

Miller knows where he excels. "I play every game like it's my last game. I go all out every play. I still would like to work on my speed before my senior year," said Miller.

During his junior campaign, Miller recorded 11 interceptions with three returned for touchdowns. He is a good student and should have no trouble qualifying.
