Mid-Point Spring Depth Chart

Alabama has reached approximately the mid-point of spring football practice. The depth chart for the first scrimmage of the year can be expected to have a lot of adjustments before next fall. And perhaps by next week.

The scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday was th eighth of 15 spring practices and the first of three days that will be primarily scrimmage work. The next Alabama scrimmage will likely be next Saturday. The final day of spring work will be when Bama has its annual A-Day Game March 19.

There are also a number of players not participating, some held out of contact work, some perhaps set to return before the end of the spring, some not counted on again until August and the start of pre-season camp for the 2005 season.

Among the offensive players not participating this year are two men who were starters in the backfield last year, halfback Kenneth Darby and fullback Tim Castille. Quarterback Brodie Croyle doesn't participate in contact work and was not in Saturday's scrimmage, but is still clearly the number one quarterback. Will Oakley, a wide receiver who pulled a hmstring muscle Thursday, did not scrimmage. Speaking of wide receiver, flanker and split end appear to be interchangeable, so two Wide Receiver spots are listed. Here is how the offensive depth chart looked Saturday:

Wide Receiver–Tyrone Prothro, Zeke Knight, Marcus McKnight, Brandon Brooks
