Bama Gets First HS Commitment for 2006

Andy Davis, a safety and rising senior from Briarwood Christian School verbally committed to Alabama Wednesday evening, becoming the Tide's first high school commitment for the class of 2006.

"I just committed to Alabama," Andy Davis said Wednesday. "I called Coach Cheese (Alabama receivers coach Charlie Harbison) and committed. He was real excited and happy that I went ahead and committed early."

Davis said he will not take any more visits to other schools, and will only camp at Alabama.

Davis is known as one of the fastest players to ever come from Briarwood. Tim Castille, former teammate said, "He's one of the fastest guys I've ever seen."

"It was pretty much between USC and Alabama," Davis said. "USC is so far away. Plus, I do not have any friends or family out there."

Davis attended USC's spring game this past weekend before committing to Alabama.

"It's always been my dream to play for Alabama. I am going to try and get as many prospects as I can to commit to Alabama," Davis said.
