Lott Lists Early Favorites

J.D. Lott is a 6-4, 200-pound defensive end from Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham. He is receiving a lot of interest from schools from across the country.

"Over 40 schools are showing interest. The schools sending the most mail are Stanford, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Clemson, West Virginia, and Vanderbilt," Lott said.

Lott has a early list of favorites, including an overall leader.

"My favorites are Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. Tennessee is my overall leader because my sister is a cheerleader there."

Lott shared what he likes about his favorites.

Alabama: "I like how close it is. My entire family are all big Alabama fans. I have a lot of friends who go there. The coaches are very nice."

Auburn: "I really like the defensive line coach. I like how close it is. I have several friends who go there."

Stanford: "I have not been there before. I have received several hand-written letters from their coaches. I received a hand-written letter from the head coach after he watched my highlight tape."

Lott tripped to Auburn for their A-Day game, and said "I was impressed with the defensive ends coach. I am going to Tennessee this weekend for their spring game."

When asked about strengths, Lott replied, "My speed. I don't weigh much, but I have very good speed for my size. I'd like to add some weight slowly, and not gain any fat. I would like to weigh 240 when I go off to college."

Lott had a great junior campaign with 95 tackles, four batted balls, five sacks, and three forced fumbles. He will camp at Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Stanford, and Vanderbilt.
