GymTiders ranked third

The Alabama Gymnastics team remains the nation's No. 3 in the nation for the second week in a row. The Crimson Tide is bolstered by No. 1 rankings on the bars and floor and a No. 3 ranking on the vault. The Tide moved up one spot to No. 7 on the balance beam.

The national rankings are currently determined by season average.

Several Tide gymnasts are featured in this week's poll. Three of the four Tide athletes making an appearance in the floor exercise rankings are freshmen. Alexis Brion checks in at No. 4 while Michelle Reeser is No. 8 and Shannon Hrozek, No. 11. Junior Kristen Sterner is ninth in the country on that event.

Pickens on the balance beam.

Senior Andree' Pickens is the ranked second on the uneven bars and the vault. In her last three outings, Pickens has posted eight marks of 9.9 or better out of nine routines. Her scores during that period include a 10.0 and a 9.975 on the vault and a 10.0 on the uneven bars.

Sterner and senior Raegan Tomasek remain in the all-around rankings, No. 22 and No. 23, respectively. Senior Natalie Barrington made her debut in the national rankings this week on the uneven bars at No. 20, an event where she is a two-time All American. Sophomore Jeana Rice is ranked 17th on the vault.

Alabama next takes on the No. 14 Florida Gators at Coleman Coliseum Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available through the Alabama Ticket Office at 205-348-BAMA or at www.rolltide.com.
