The Tide Totals points program will officially begin on February 1, 2006.
In the announcement, Moore emphasized that the new priority points program is not replacing the TIDE PRIDE ticket program, the school's priority seating program since 1988.
"Tide Totals will not affect TIDE PRIDE's current per-seat/per-year donation concept, nor does it include automatic rearrangement of anyone's current TIDE PRIDE football or basketball seats," he said. "Tide Totals is an enhancement to our TIDE PRIDE program, taking into account each season ticket holder's history in purchasing season tickets to Alabama sporting events, donations made to TIDE PRIDE through the years, and donations to the Crimson Tide Foundation.
"For years, TIDE PRIDE has been the only donor program for athletics, and we are extremely fortunate to have such a program in place," Moore said. "But now that the Crimson Tide Foundation and our capital campaign for athletic facilities are up and running, a mechanism is needed whereby contributions to the Foundation, as well as to TIDE PRIDE, can count toward donors earning points to determine priority for tickets to football road games and post-season events in all of our ticketed sports. Most schools around the Southeastern Conference already have such programs in place, and we think the plan will provide a great deal of incentive for our supporters."
Moore said that the upcoming 2005 football season will be not be affected by the new points program.
"Tide Totals will kick off in February of 2006," he said. "For this football season, the normal priority system we've had in place since TIDE PRIDE began will be in effect."
Information on the new Tide Totals points program is being mailed next week to season ticket holders in the six ticketed sports.
