Two players from the state of Alabama made the list of players from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and Alabama is recruiting both heavily.
Andre Smith was among the five offensive linemen to make SI's list. Smith has taken an unofficial visit to Alabama, but with nearly 50 scholarship offers including one from Tide Head Coach Mike Shula.
Smith is from nearby Huffman High in Birmingham, but the five-star player holds plenty of cards and he is not likely to show them any time soon.
Tim Hawthorne, from Homewood, was one of just two receivers on the SI squad. Hawthorne camped at Alabama and reports indicate he put on an impressive show for the Alabama coaches.
Hawthorne has an offer from Alabama and has mentioned the Tide prominently among a list of seven early favorites.
Another prospect Tide fans are following closely is Jacksonville Florida's Tim Tebow, the only quarterback on the SI list.
Tebow has, at times, listed Alabama among about 20 other schools he is considering. He claims his recruitment is wide open, but it looks like Mike Shula has his work cut out for him taking this star out of the state.
Another perhaps less prominent name on the list was that of Daniel Wenger, an offensive lineman on the list from Coral Springs, Fla. Wenger recently told Scout that Alabama was among five schools he was considering and that he was "intrigued" by the Tide.
