Treat For Courtney

Former Crimson Tide All-America softball catcher Ashley Courtney has been invited to be a ball girl at Thursday night's Major League baseball game between the World Champion Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees at Fenway Park in Boston.

"I'm so excited to be out there so close to all these players, especially in such a baseball-crazy town like Boston and in such a heated rivalry like the Sox and Yankees," said Courtney. "My heart races every time I think about it. When they called me and asked me if I wanted to do it, I thought 'Who says no to an opportunity like that?'"

Courtney, a two-time All-America while at Alabama, helped the Crimson Tide to Women's College World Series appearances in 2003 and 2005. She is currently played in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league for the New England Riptide in Lowell, Massachusetts where she has a .350 batting average.

As an Official Development Partner for the NPF, Major League Baseball helps to promote and develop the league with such opportunities.

The game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
