First scrimmage photo report

With a final score of 10-7-3; indicating 10 points scored by the first team offense, seven by the second team and three by the third teamers; spring's first scrimmage had a little bit of everything. <br><br>But perhaps most impressive was the fact that Coach Fran **apparently** can control the weather. Rainy skies dried up for essentially the time before, during and after the scrimmage. Rain resumed later on in the day.

Offensive line coach Jim Bob Helduser walks among a sea of legs, as his linemen stretch before the start of Saturday's scrimmage.

Standing next to probably the only player on the team that could make him look small, 6-3, 345-pound Anthony Bryant shares a light moment with new nose tackle running mate Bart Raulston (6-8, 358 pounds).

New to defense, middle linebacker Marvin Brown gets some help with his equipment from sophomore Todd Bates. Brown began the day slightly ahead of Freddie Roach at 'Mike' linebacker. Bates sat out the scrimmage with a pulled muscle.

Late in the scrimmage, quarterback Spencer Pennington calls the signals with a mixture of 3s and 4s on the line of scrimmage.

New Safeties Coach Melvin Smith gets his point across to Marc Miller. Miller played quarterback for part of last season, but the coaches think his best chance to help the squad is at safety.

Sophomore defensive end Antwan Odom gets his game face on before scrimmage action.

Due to depth of field, the four figures appear to be right next to each other, when in reality they're yards apart. Third-string punter Jeremy Shatz waits for the snap as Coach Franchione and Coach Torbush look on. That's Equipment Manager Tank Conerly in the background.

Junior Rover Brooks Daniels brings some heat against Tyler Watts. The throw was complete for a first down to Dre Fulgham, and Watts and the first-string offense went on to score their only touchdown of the day.
