Recruiting profile: Jayson Swain

A heralded receiver prospect that first exploded on the scene his freshman year, Jayson Swain hasn't looked back since.

Out of Huntsville's Grissom High School, Swain is 6-2 and weighs 205 pounds. He claims a 4.40 best time in the 40-yard dash.

Swain finds the open areas in a defense, is knowledgeable of cornerback tendencies, and is a very good downfield blocker. His intelligence and athleticism combined creates a prime-time target that is tough to contain.

The big receiver snagged 62 passes as a freshman for 800 yards and 13 Tds, while his sophomore season, he garnered over 1000 yards and 17 Tds. With defenses focusing on Swain, his stats dropped off as a junior, but he still managed 600 yards receiving and 200 yards rushing with nine total Tds.

When ask about his stats, Swain said, "I only remember the wins and losses."

His size alone makes him tough to defend, but when you include his 35" vertical jump, he suddenly becomes almost unstoppable.

Swain made Honorable Mention All State as a freshman and junior, but made First Team All State as a sophomore.

He has camped at Tennessee, Auburn, and Nike (Tuscaloosa), while Swain benches 275 pounds and squats 405.

Swain carries a 2.6 GPA but must raise his ACT score to fully qualify.

He says his schools of include Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Texas, and Michigan. The Vols, Auburn, the Tide, and Yellow Jackets have offered.
