Second scrimmage photo report

Intrasquad scrimmages are always a zero-sum affair. If the offense looks good, then fans worry about the defense. And vice versa. But there were good performances on both sides of the ball Saturday, as the Tide went through its second full scrimmage of spring.

Senior quarterback Tyler Watts warms up before the scrimmage. Going 12-of-20 for 109 yards, Watts was the leading passer Saturday.

Kenny King fires his fellow linemen up before the scrimmage began. Afterwards, Coach Fran said that the senior nose tackle has had an outstanding spring practice.

Backup strong guard Dennis Alexander responds to a friend's yell during warmups. The Tide O-Line did a good job run blocking--somewhat less so in protecting the passer.

As the picture shows, it was the coaches' clinic weekend. More than 500 registered for the various activities, and at least that many lined the sideline watching the scrimmage action.

Play over, the offensive and defensive players unscramble themselves from the pile.

Completely surrounded by members of the media hanging on his every word, Coach Franchione talks about what he saw following the scrimmage.

Three-year starter Saleem Rasheed waves to the crowd. Having declared early for the NFL draft, Rasheed is now playing a waiting game wondering which pro team will end up selecting his rights. By the way, Rasheed also had approving words for the play of his apparent successor, Freddie Roach.
