Coach Discusses Newest Commitment

Alex Stadler, from Liberty High School in Beale, Virginia, pledged his verbal commitment to the Crimson Tide Monday morning. Liberty's Coach Thomas Buzzo talks about his star lineman.

"Well, Alex has been sleeping on it for a while," Buzzo said. "He went down to Alabama during the spring for an unofficial visit, and he really liked it down there. He took his official visit for the Florida weekend, and he really fell in love."

"I felt like Alabama had the edge the whole time, but he wanted to visit three schools-- Alabama, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame," Buzzo added.

Stadler was in Tuscaloosa for an official visit when the Tide dismantled the Florida Gators and the second trip to the Capstone sealed the deal.

"When he came back from his visit to Virginia Tech, he was really excited. He had a great trip. Then he went to Alabama. He loved it down there. He loved the atmosphere and the way everything revolved around Alabama football," Buzzo said.

Stadler has a close relationship with his high school coach and relayed his feelings about his official visit to the University of Alabama.

"He told me how much he liked it down at Alabama once he got back," Buzzo said. "He liked the way everyone supports the football team and how everything is focused on football. That really impressed him a lot."

The recruiting coach is an important key in the process of recruiting and Alabama did not disappoint with Stadler's relationship with Coach Sparky Woods. Stadler's high school was impressed as well.

"Coach Sparky Woods was his recruiting coach. He did a terrific job recruiting Alex. I first met Sparky when he was coaching at Ole Miss. I think he is a wonderful coach," Buzzo stated.

Coach Thomas Buzzo is proud of his four-star lineman and knows the Tide is getting a great player from the state of Virginia. Stadler is on track to qualify as well.

"I don't really know too much about the Alabama program right now, but I know they are getting a player who has a lot of character," Buzzo said. "He is great student and a great football player. He has the grades. He is in the National Honor Society,"

Liberty will travel to Winchester tonight after their game was canceled due to heavy rain on Friday.
