Big Fla. Athlete Set for Official with Tide

With more than 750 players in the deep south that sign Division One College Scholarships every year, players are going to fly under the radar until later than others. That is particularly the case in Florida with close to 300 players every year. One such player is Markee Drummer of Cardinal Newman High School.

Markee Drummer (6-4/215) of Cardinal Newman High School has the frame and quickness to star at several positions on the college level. He has made a move to linebacker from his defensive end position, but he expects to put his hand back down at defensive end on the next level.

"I have 32 tackles and three sacks so far," said Drummer. "I played defensive end in our first two games, and I've been playing linebacker since then. We're 5-2 on the season, and we're getting ready for Pahokee this week."

Drummer has already been on one official visit, and he has another scheduled for the weekend.

"I've gotten offers from North Carolina, Alabama, and Temple. I already took a visit to North Carolina for the Wisconsin game. I loved the atmosphere there on game day. The fans, the people on campus, the coaching staff, it was the first it was new to me, so I was overwhelmed by all of the people there and the excitement."

What is Drummer looking forward to in his visit to see the Tide this weekend.

"I'm looking forward to comparing the two. Coach Randolph is recruiting me for Alabama, and Coach Schiralli is recruiting me for North Carolina. Coach Shiralli went to school here and played football here.

Who else is Drummer looking at?

"I like North Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia Tech right now. I like Louisville too."

Drummer is a player with a lot of upside with his frame and quickness. He has some good options ahead of him already, and he could end up with more. He will check out the Tide this weekend, and we will check back in with him after his official visit.
