Shula Thoughts

Tide Head Coach Mike Shula called Bama's 35-3 win over Utah State "a good way to end homecoming."

Bama won, but it cost the Tide a few injuries. Fullback Tim Castille sprained his ankle and end Chris Harris was injured at the end of the game. Shula said he did know the extent.

Receiver Keith Brown did not play with a bruised thigh.

"Brown has a bruised quad," Shula said. "He practiced on and off during the week. We made the decision before the game not to play him because we felt it was in his best interest and in our best interest."

"It was close," Shula said. "We were talking from Thursday on. The fact that he had practiced on and off Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday it was a wait and see deal and we decided before the game he'd be better off not playing."

Shula said Brodie Croyle's trip to the locker room was just a scare.

"He just cut his elbow. Scary," Shula said. "They brought a blitz and we'd been picking it up. I think he was offsides on the play but still got a shot on him. We all held out breath there. He seems to be fine."

Shula said of John Parker Wilson, "It was good to see him take that second-to-last drive down there. The touchdown pass was against the blitz. He stood in there and made a real good throw to Glen Coffee. He took a hit on the play before where he actually should have gotten the ball out a little earlier… He feels bad about what he did and what transpired, but it was good to see him play well today."
