Ricks Has Leader

Scout.com's four-star lineman Jermarcus Ricks was high on the Crimson Tide after his unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa for the Tennessee game. Ricks took an unofficial visit to Auburn for the Ole Miss game and left with a leader.

Jermarcus Ricks is one of Alabama's top football prospects.

"I had a great trip to Auburn this weekend," said Ricks from Colbert County. "It was my first game down there. I had a good time. I went into the locker room after the game. I watched how my position coach talked to the players."

"Coach [Tommy] Tuberville told me he would visit my house in December. He let me know how much they want me and need me at Auburn," Ricks added.

The game-day experience was a little different for the Auburn-Ole Miss game as Ricks said, "The atmosphere really didn't compare to Alabama. I guess it was because they were playing Ole Miss. I had a great trip though. I really enjoyed the game."

It's been a two-team race for his signature during the recruiting process with Tennessee turning up the heat in recent weeks. Ricks has ruled out the possibility of heading out-of-state.

"It's between Alabama and Auburn," he said. "I am not going to leave the state. Alabama is still my overall favorite. I am going to the Alabama-LSU game, and I will go to the Alabama-Auburn game."

Ricks was close to making a decision after his visit to the Plains, but said, "I will probably wait until after my senior season before I make my decision."

Colbert County (8-2) will host Winston County Friday night in the first round of the play-offs.
