Bama Has Four Freshman Picks

The University of Alabama football team had four players named to the 2005 Coaches' SEC All-Freshmen Team as announced by the league office Thursday morning.

Left guard Antoine Caldwell, right guard B.J. Stabler and tight end Nick Walker were the three representatives from the offensive side of the ball. Caldwell played and started all 11 games for the Tide this season at his left guard position. He and Stabler, who started nine of the 10 games he played in this season at right guard, helped carve out holes for running back Kenneth Darby who became only the fourth back in Alabama history to record back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.

Walker also started in all 11 of the Tide's games this season. He hauled in nine passes for 120 (10.9) yards, including a season long 34-yard reception against Auburn. He caught a season high three passes in Alabama's wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss.

Defensive end Bobby Greenwood was the lone representative on defense. He's saw action in all 11 games for Alabama this season recording 14 tackles. He ranks third on the team in sacks (3.0-22) and sixth in tackles for loss (4.5-27). He's also recorded five quarterback pressures and a pass break-up.
