Odom Rates Alabama Visit Highly

Derrick Odom, from Callaway High School in Jackson, Miss., was in Tuscaloosa for his official visit with the Crimson Tide. The four-star linebacker stated his visit went well, and the Crimson Tide is sitting at the top of his list.

"I liked everything about my visit," said Derrick Odom. "The whole weekend went really well. We toured the campus, saw all the academic facilities and the athletic buildings."

"We got to watch Alabama's bowl practice as well. I really liked everything. The facilities were really nice," Odom added.

The 6-2, 205 pound athlete is being recruited by Alabama as an outside linebacker. He spent time with the Alabama coaches to discuss his future.

"I talked to all the coaches," Odom said. "I sat down with coach [Mike] Shula for a while. We had a pretty good talk. I like him a lot. I talked to coach [Joe] Kines as well. They were telling me how they want me to come in and play strong-side linebacker. They kept telling me how bad they want me to come play at Alabama."

Odom was hosted by Jimmy Johns--Mr.Football in the state of Mississippi in 2004.

"I had a great time with Jimmy this weekend," Odom said. "We had a lot of fun together. We hung out with everyone. It was a good time."

The Magnolia State four-star prospect plans to wait and take his remaining visits before making a decision. Alabama is definitely in strong contention for his signature.

"There really wasn't just one thing that stood out during my visit. It was a well-rounded trip. Alabama is one of the schools at the top of my list," Odom said.

"Right now I plan to take my remaining visits before making a decision. I don't have an overall favorite," Odom added.
