Tim Tebow Takes Center Stage

Tens of thousands of eyes and ears will be trained towards Nease High in Ponte Vedra, Florida Tuesday afternoon as Tim Tebow announces where he will play his college football.

Tim Tebow is a dual-threat quarterback who has been recruited by virtually every major college football program in the country. He will make his decision after a week of in-home visits by head coaches from Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan and USC, although Alabama and Florida have been considered the frontrunners for months.

The five-star quarterback prospect (6-3, 220 pounds) will announce his decision on ESPNews at 5:10 p.m. Eastern time, 4:10 Central. In Birmingham, NBC13-TV will carry the Tebow announcement live beginning at 4 p.m. Central, and his announcement will be documented and recounted simultaneously as it happens on BamaMag.com and other sites.

Alabama Head Coach Mike Shula flew to Jacksonville Monday to meet with Tebow for the quarterback's final in-home visit from a prospective head coach. Shula's dogged recruitment of Tebow has left virtually everyone wondering if Tebow will choose Tuscaloosa over his childhood favorite Florida.

Tebow watched in person as the Crimson Tide dismantled the Gators 31-3 in Tuscaloosa on October 1st. He made a return trip to see Alabama's first loss of the year in overtime against LSU.

Tebow is also a finalist for the PARADE All-America High School Player of the Year Award. Preceding the college announcement, Tebow will be presented with an official finalist "jacket" for this equivalent of college football's Heisman Trophy in a ceremony at his high school at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.

ESPN2 and Murrah Communications will air a one hour documentary on Tebow Wednesday, December 14th at 10 p.m. The show, entitled Faces of Sports: Tim Tebow- The Chosen One will document Tebow's record setting career at Nease, his senior season, and the team's drive toward a state championship.

BamaMag.com will have a live play-by-play account of the Tebow announcement followed by analysis and in-depth breakdown of the remainder of Alabama's recruiting class. National Signing Day is February 1, 2006.
