Scouting Alabama QBs: Dustin Goodwin

With a solid performance at the recent NIKE Camp hosted at The University of Alabama campus, Dustin Goodwin has emerged as a possibility at quarterback.

The 6-2, 195-pound star out of Demopolis is capable of running and reading the triple option, the speed option, drop back passing game, bootlegs, roll out passing, and the intermediate passing attack.

Another star quarterback in Class 5A that has demonstrated the uncanny ability to run a multiple of offensive sets, Goodwin is versatile enough in his ability that he can throw it 65 yards in the air or he can utilize the touch passes and drive the ball down your throat.

Goodwin participated in the NIKE camp at Alabama.

Goodwin passed for 1875 yards and 20 Tds as a junior while completing passes at a 59 percent clip. He also rushed for 352 yards and five Tds, but it was his ability to see the field and make the proper decision with the ball that has gotten the attention of college scouts.

He was voted his teams' Most Valuable Offensive Player, plus he made the All Northwest Alabama First Team.

Goodwin has been timed at 4.66 in the 40-yard dash. He bench presses 300 pounds and box squats 535. He has a 3.73 GPA and has scored 19 on the ACT.

His father, Doug Goodwin (head football coach at Demopolis) played college football at Auburn.

Dustin has camped at Alabama ( 2 ) and Auburn ( 4 ), plus he battled at the Nike Camp (Tuscaloosa).

Goodwin has very good arm strength and he would like to choose from among Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee or any remaining SEC school.
