Scouting Alabama QBs: Kelcy Luke

The third talented sibling from the same Phenix City family, Kelcy Luke is described by his brothers as the "biggest and most talented yet."

The All Bi-City Offensive Player of the Year as a junior after leading his team to a 9-2 season and the second round of the state playoffs, Kelcy is the brother of Triandos Luke (wide receiver, Alabama) and Nic Luke (fullback, Alabama). But most observers say he is the most talented athlete of the three.

Luke, 6-1, 196 pounds, rushed for 302 yards and four Tds as a junior in Central High School's conservative offense, while passing for 960 yards and seven Tds.

Luke is physically talented enough to play any of several positions, but he handles quarterback in high school.

Having been clocked at 4.60 in the 40-yard dash, Luke is rangy and tough enough to play defense in college, but he is too valuable in high school to risk injury.

He does play free safety in practice so that he will be very aware of his tendencies and reactions in case he is needed on friday nights. The experience also helps him at quarterback to know what the safety will do on passing downs.

Luke has camped at Auburn, and he also participated in the recent NIKE Camp held in Tuscaloosa.

The Phenix City star bench presses 285 pounds, squats 365, and power cleans 255.

He has a 3.4 GPA and scored 16 on his first ACT. Luke plans to retake the test in April.

Luke lists his favorite schools as Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss and West Virginia.
