The Alabama softball team of Coach Patrick Murphy is the pre-season favorite to win the Southeastern Conference West division title as voted on by the league coaches. Alabama is coming off a 63-15 record in which Bama reached the College World Series for the seventh time in its 10-year history and third time in the past four years.
Alabama garnered seven first place votes and 57 total points as the team looks to defend its 2005 West division title. The Crimson Tide went on to win the SEC Tournament championship.
Auburn and LSU were selected second (48) followed by Mississippi State (38), Ole Miss (22) and Arkansas (20).
SEC coaches picked Tennessee to win the overall league title with nine votes while Florida and Georgia each received one vote.
The Lady Vols were picked to win the SEC East with nine first place votes and 49 points. Georgia finished second (39) followed by Florida (37), South Carolina (23) and Kentucky (14).
