"Andre doesn't really know what he is going to do this week," said Andre Smith, Sr. "I don't think he wants to go anywhere. We are going to encourage him to take his final visit. We feel like he needs to take all five to make sure he makes the right decision."
The Scout.com five-star lineman took an official visit to LSU over the weekend, and Andre's father shared, "The visit to LSU went really good. All of the visits have been good. They showed a lot of attention towards Andre. They basically let him know how much they wanted him at LSU. Coach Miles and coach Jimbo Fisher were both like Siamese twins with Andre this weekend. They never left his side. Overall it was a real fun trip."
With signing day fast approaching, the schools remaining in the hunt for Smith's signature are hitting the city of Birmingham, (Ala.).
"Auburn is coming by the house tomorrow night," Smith said. "I am sure it will be coach [Terry] Price. I don't know if coach [Tommy] Tuberville will come or not. Coach Bobby Bowden wants to come in on Tuesday night. Coach Mike Shula, coach [Bob] Connelly and coach Cheese [Charlie Harbison] from Alabama are all coming on Thursday."
"Coach Cheese has done a really good job in recruiting Andre. He is a real good recruiting coach for Alabama. Coach Pete Carroll is coming in town sometime this week as well."
A little confusion took place last week as coaches from two schools were at the Smith household at the same time.
"Last Thursday night we hosted coaches from LSU and Florida," Smith said. "Actually, the Florida coaches showed up while the LSU coaches were still here. Everyone handled everything very well. The coaches from LSU stayed for about fifteen more minutes then left. All the coaches from Florida stayed for a while."
"Both of those visits went really good. Coach Les Miles and coach Jimbo Fisher were the ones who came from LSU. Florida sent a bunch of coaches. Coach Urban Meyer, coach [John] Hevesy, coach Charlie Strong, and the defensive lines coach [Greg Mattison] were all here."
Several schools have written Smith off as a "lock" to stay in-state, but his father feels all the schools are equal at this point.
"The pressure on Andre staying in-state is about the same as it's always been," said Smith. "I am starting to hear more often from people that he does not need to leave the state. Alabama has been alright in their recruitment of Andre. We have not talked to coach Tuberville. He may come this week, but probably not."
"USC has done a good job recruiting him. Andre likes USC a lot. I don't know if he will go out there or not. They lost two junior offensive lineman to the NFL draft. That might help them out."
"I really don't know about Florida State anymore. Last year I would have said Florida State was the team to beat, but I don't even know if they are really in it anymore."
"Florida and LSU are still there too. Tim Tebow has been recruiting Andre ever since the day he committed to Florida. I don't think that will have much effect on Andre at all."
Ole Miss jumped into the picture late, but there is interest in the Rebels.
"Coach Kehoe and Coach Werner had built a good relationship with Andre when they were at Miami," Smith said. "They showed Andre so much love that when they started coaching at Ole Miss they immediately contacted Andre. Andre likes those coaches, but I don't know if Ole Miss is a school he will go to."
As to when Smith will make a decision his father said, "Andre is going to announce his decision at his high school on signing day."
Stay tuned to Scout.com to find out where or if Smith will take his final official visit.
