"That kind of surprised me last night when my wife told me Andre is taking a visit to Florida this weekend," said Andre Smith, Sr. "I was shocked. I thought if he did take a visit it would be to either Auburn or Ole Miss. I didn't think Florida had anymore spots left."
"I was really caught by surprise. I don't know if he will take the visit or not. I can't say whether or not that visit is definitely going to happen right now. We will still have to sit down and talk about it. I just really don't know right now what he is going to do."
USC has made a strong impression with the nation's top offensive lineman, and the Smith family enjoyed their visit with the Trojan coaching staff Tuesday night.
"We had a great time with the USC coaches last night," Smith said. "Their presentation was great. They really know what they want and who they want. They sent in four coaches. Coach [Pete] Carroll, Coach[Lane] Kiffin who is Monty Kiffin's son, the running backs coach and the offensive coordinator."
"The visit was great. They showed Andre they really want him bad. Andre likes them a lot."
When asked of other coaches planning to visit Smith Sr. replied, "Tonight Coach Jimbo Fisher from LSU will visit. He is the only coach who is coming. Coach [Les] Miles has already made his in-home visit. Tomorrow night the Alabama coaches are coming in. I haven't heard anything from Auburn. I don't know if they plan to visit or not."
