Will Peanut Keep Final Visit?

Scout.com five-star defensive end Deantwan "Peanut" Whitehead has an official visit scheduled with Alabama this weekend and will announce his college decision next Tuesday. Will Whitehead make it to Tuscaloosa?

For what was likely my final interview of the recruiting season with Deantwan Whitehead, it was an intriguing one. The Scout.com five-star defensive end talked about the process of making a decision and the difficulty of choosing to play in-state at either Alabama or Auburn, or play outside state borders at either Louisville or Tennessee.

He has already made official visits with Auburn, Louisville and this past weekend at Tennessee. He'll trip to Alabama this weekend.

"It was pretty good," he said of his trip to Knoxville. "I enjoyed myself. We kind of did the same things that I did on my other visits. We went to their basketball game against Florida. It was a fun trip."

With just his weekend trip to Alabama remaining, the nations number three defensive end said that his list continues to remain at four.

"It's Auburn, Alabama, Louisville or Tennessee," he said on Wednesday evening. "It'll be one of those four on Tuesday."

He further explained that the most difficult part of making his final choice is the decision to attend college in-state or not.

"That's exactly what it's going to be about," he said. "It's going to be about do I want to leave the state or if I want to stay."

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Whitehead explained that while playing for an out of state program has it's positives, the thought of being further from his Alabama home may be enough to keep him in-state.

"I have a little sister and my brother is already at college, so I feel like I don't want to leave my little sister and my mom here," he explained. "That's kind of making me want to stay, but my mom is telling me that she would be alright and that I should take care of me."

"I can experience new things and it would be the first time for me being out on my own, so it would be about trying to grow up," he said of playing for an out of state program.

Louisville made it's final visit with the nation's No. 3 defensive end prospect on Tuesday evening and made a follow up call on Wednesday, while Auburn and Tennessee still have final visits remaining.

"It's extremely tough," Peanut said of picking one final school. "It's going to be how I feel about the school and it's academics. All the school's have told me that playing early is up to me and they are all going to give me the opportunity. I have to prove that I can do it when I get there."

Whitehead will announce his decision on Tuesday during a press conference at his Birmingham West End High School.
