Floridian Aboard

Once Scout.com three-star cornerback Marquis Johnson of Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida, makes up his mind, he sticks with his decision. Fortunately for Alabama, Johnson decided on the Crimson Tide.

The 6-1, 180-pound back received a scholarship offer from the University of Miami following his senior season, but decided Alabama was the only place he wanted to play college football. Marquis Johnson did not take an official visit with the Hurricanes.

Johnson recorded 40 tackles, five interceptions and 18 pass break-ups during his senior season.

When asked why he committed to Alabama Johnson enthusiastically answered, "It's the place for me. The situation couldn't be any better. I love the tradition and the fans. It's out-of-state, and I was always leaning towards leaving Florida. I love the coaching staff."

"Alabama fit me a lot better than the other schools. The defense the Tide plays is exactly the same defense I play now. The school fits me better than anywhere else."

Johnson was recruited by Coach Dave Ungerer to play corner back for the Tide.

Johnson is on track to qualify with a 17 on his ACT and reports a 2.7 GPA.
