Welcome Mr. Mississippi

For the second consecutive year, Alabama has slipped across the border to sign the Mr. Football honoree in the state of Mississippi. Last year it was Jimmy Johns. This year it is Terry Grant, a Scout.com three-star running back from Lumberton.

Terry Grant announced his verbal commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide the day before National Signing Day. Grant chose Bama over nearby Southern Miss and Florida State.

He received heavy pressure to stay in-state, but on Tuesday he rolled with the Tide.

Grant led the state of Mississippi in rushing with over 2,700 yards. He had over 8,000 yards for his career and broke the state record in touchdowns with 115. He was named Mississippi's Mr. Football for his successful season.

Grant helped lead his high school squad to two consecutive state championships and rushed for over 200 yards in his final game.

The 5-10, 185-pound back is on track to qualify.
