Tide Vs. Dogs

On Friday night, top-ranked Georgia will take on third-ranked Alabama in Coleman Coliseum in one of the nation's best gymnastics rivalries. Both teams are 3-0 in Southeastern Conference competition. Bama is 10-0 overall with a high score of 196.650. Georgia is 8-0 overall with a high score of 197.150.

Here are Southeastern Conference notes on Alabama and Georgia:

ALABAMA Crimson Tide

The Alabama Gymnastics team scored a season-high 196.650 to beat Kentucky in Lexington last week.

The Crimson Tide have been road warriors to open the season, with four of its first five meets this season coming away from home. After living on the road for the first half of the season, Alabama returns home for just its second home meet of the season against Georgia at 7:30 p.m. CST Friday. It will be the first time the Bulldogs have been in Tuscaloosa since 2004.

Tickets are available online at http://www.rolltide.com/ and at the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum. Alabama had a sellout of some 15,000 earlier this year against Florida.

Sophomore Terin Humphrey, in her first all-around of the season, won it with a 39.375 after closing out the meet for the Tide by winning the balance beam with a 9.875.

SEC Notes on the GEORGIA Gym Dogs

For the first time since 1999, and the eighth time under coach Suzanne Yoculan, Georgia has won its first five meets of the year. This weekend the Gym Dogs travel to Alabama on Friday and return for a home meet against Oklahoma on Sunday.

Friday will be the 11th dual meet between Georgia and Alabama in the last 10 years when one of the teams has been ranked No. 1 in the country. The Gym Dogs are 8-2 in those meets and this will be the ninth time in that span that Georgia is the top-ranked team.

Last year Georgia lost dual meets to both Alabama and Oklahoma.
