Keys, Davis to Miss Spring

Two players were officially ruled out of spring practice because of medical issues Wednesday afternoon, the University confirmed in a statement.

Offensive tackle Cody Davis had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder last Tuesday, and and linebacker Chris Keys had surgery on his right ankle yesterday, Shula said through a statement.

Davis will be a sophomore in the 2006 season.

Keys rehabilitation is expected to take 12-14 weeks. Keys and Davis are expected to be able to participate in summer workouts.

Keys will be a true sophomore. He has a redshirt year at his disposal.

The spring expected to be an important for both Keys and Davis. Keys had been expected to try a move from safety to outside linebacker this spring and Davis had been expected to compete with Chris Capps to try to shore up the left tackle position in the spring before the arrival of freshman Andre Smith in the fall.
