"I have not received any offers yet," said Elliot McGaskin from B.C. Rain in Mobile, (Ala.). "I am hoping to get some within the next few weeks. I have a lot of schools showing interest in me. Alabama is showing the most interest right now. They are sending me a ton of mail."
Three schools have McGaskin's attention with one school as an early favorite.
"My favorite schools right now are Alabama, Clemson and West Virginia," he said. "I would say Alabama is my favorite school. I have a lot of strong interest in them right now."
"I really like the coaching staff at Alabama a lot. Their defense is great. I would love to play in that defense."
McGaskin talks about his other two favorites as well.
Clemson: "Clemson has a good football and academic program. It would be a good school to attend."
West Virginia: "I like their offense a lot. They have a good defense as well."
McGaskin rushed for over 1,200 yards with 10 touchdowns during his junior season. He recorded 95 tackles with one interception on defense.
McGaskin admits he does not have a position preference and stated, "Most of the schools are recruiting me as a defensive back. I'll play wherever they need me. It doesn't matter to me."
Several scholarship offers are expected after the coaches begin spring evaluations, and McGaskin knows about his decision. "I want to make an early decision," he said. "I want to be able to focus on my senior season. I don't want to have to worry about anything." When asked what he is seeking in his college choice McGaskin replied, "I am basically trying to find a place with a good coaching staff and a good defense."
McGaskin plans to attend Alabama's Junior Day on March 4, and he has not scheduled any additional visits at this time.
He will participate in the Scout.com combine at Alabama on April 29.
