Baseball Opener Postponed

The University of Alabama baseball team's season opener has been pushed back one day due to the threat of inclement weather in the Tuscaloosa area Friday afternoon. Bama is now scheduled to open the baseball season at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday and Monday's games will be broadcast by the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 1420 AM The Tusk and on the web at Rolltide.com. The Sunday game will be available on campus radio, 90.7 FM New Rock.

The series with Winthrop (2-1) is still scheduled for three days: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with each game set to being at 1 p.m.

The last time Bama's season opener was postponed was in 2000 when Alabama and Oklahoma were rained out on opening day. In addition, this marks the second straight time that Alabama and Winthrop have played a series that extended into Monday. The two teams last met in 2001 and after the Friday and Saturday games were postponed due to rain, the teams played a Sunday double header and a single game on Monday. Alabama won that series, two games to one.
