First Offer On the Way

Madison Central Chaz Ramsey is one of the top offensive lineman in the Magnolia State for the class of 2007. Ramsey received news of his first scholarship offer.

"Mississippi State has told me that an offer is in the mail, and I should receive it sometime this week," said Chaz Ramsey. "I have been receiving strong interest from Southern Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt and LSU as well."

"I don't have an overall favorite, but there are six schools I am really looking at right now. They are LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt."

Ramsey talks about his favorites.

Alabama: "I went to their camp last year. I like their coaches a lot."

Auburn: "I have never been to Auburn before. They have been sending me a lot of letters. I will attend their Junior Day."

LSU: "I like their stadium and their atmosphere."

Mississippi State: "I lift weights with Chris McNeil. He was their center last year, and he is preparing for the NFL draft. He always tells me good things about them."

Southern Miss: "Coach [Jay] Hopson is a real good guy. My dad graduated from there as well."

Vanderbilt: "I like Vanderbilt mainly because of their academics. I have been up to Nashville before, and it's very pretty. I like the city a lot."

Ramsey is going to have a busy schedule over the next six weeks. He plans to take in Junior Days at Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Vanderbilt.

When asked what he will look for when making his college decision Ramsey replied, "I want to find a good engineering school because that is what I plan to major in. I want to see how many people are going to be in front of me as well. I play tackle in high school, but I will play center in college."

Ramsey states he is 6-4, 270 pounds, and he plans to attend the Scout.com combine in Tuscaloosa, (Ala.) April 29.
